I started my original digital photography & videography business way back in October of 2015. But I transitioned to online content creation in August of 2022.
It began with blogging consistently every week, then I started incorporating Journal with Me videos on YouTube, grew a Pinterest following, and then an email newsletter.
In the Summer of 2023 around the time I got married I launched an Etsy shop. With a hope and a prayer and the thought there isn’t much to lose by trying.
As of today June 18th 2026 my Etsy shop is up to 169 sales and I am beyond grateful for each and every purchase.
Personal Side of Things
I used to work full time in Healthcare Marketing, seven years in the traditional corporate world.
It came with challenges but at the end of the day I really did love the job itself and the tasks I did.
But I always had my little online business in the back of my mind. Plugging away. Learning what I could through YouTube videos and listening to podcasts while commuting back and forth.
Entrepreneurship interested me since childhood really, and in college I took an Entrepreneurship class (in addition to my regular Communication Arts & Marketing courses)
So creating my online business didn’t exactly come out of no where.
Fast forward to February of 2025, I took 2 tests and confirmed I was pregnant! My husband and I were overjoyed while also nervous about this next chapter. Plus the constant nausea was unbearable but alas I made it through.
Did I mention we were also renovating a house that wasn’t finished yet & our apartment lease was ending and couldn’t be renewed? Fun times. but anyway, needless to say 2025 was a challenging year while also growing our greatest blessing.
Through all that I made the decision to resign from my corporate job. Focus on the baby, our home, and my online business.
Lets just be blunt and admit that last part completely fell through the cracks. Maybe it disappeared under our bathroom floors being torn up….
Back on Track
Well now that my son is getting ‘bigger’ while also still a baby of course. I’m trying to carve out some time for my business again.
I’ve heard so many stories of women losing themselves in motherhood. and I certainly have been one of them.
Not saying it is a bad thing, just different learning how to be a new version of who I am when life is changing as baby boy grows.
And the one main important priority to me is having my business and getting back to creating content.
It is good both mentally and physically to step away and enjoy a passion project. Even as simple as a change of scenery taking my laptop to a different room while my son naps. Like I am right now…
Creating content has already helped me through so many small and big moments in past years. Grief, stress, monotonous daily working, living different places.
So why not carry it with me through this next happy part of life.
Business Goals
My main areas of focus for my online content are:
- Etsy
- Blog
- Email Letter
- Affiliates
and I eventually hope to return to making YouTube videos but not right now. I have to be realistic with my time and not burn out by juggling too many avenues.
My Etsy shop has continued over the past year and I have at rare times added new products but that’s about it.
So setting some goals and sharing here to hold myself accountable with readers (while also having an article to look back on.)
- One new Etsy product per month
- Two new Blog articles per month
- Weekly Email letter
- Daily Pinterest pin(s)
- Outline a plan for sharing Affiliate items throughout content
Welp I wrote it all out, now time to start putting tasks in to action!
