On Friday, June 23rd I will officially be opening and starting an Etsy shop with lots of resources just for you!
If you follow me on social media you may have known about this already but I really wanted to take a moment to blog about it in more detail.
This project is something I’ve been wanting to do for awhile and now finally took the leap.
YouTube has been my best friend for tips on how to start the process of opening an online shop and creating designs.

Products Available
So the overall theme of products will be digital, printable pdf files with content for family tree research and journaling.
The files will be available instantly after purchase, there will be no delay times of any mail or shipping.
All you need is a mobile device or computer for downloading the files. You can then print the documents for personal use.
Some products will come with a fillable feature, where you can digitally type in information on to the file with a program like Adobe.
Just a sneak peak of some of the products:
- Ancestry DNA Matches Sheet
- Family Tree Research Checklist
- Newspaper Clippings Organizer
- Find a Grave Requests Tracker
- Photo Card Labels
I’ve designed these printables using canva.com with the concept in mind of trying to help organize family history details and keeping track of records.
And also options for fun, creative journaling pages to write down memories.

Etsy Shop Pricing
This process I struggled with so I thought the best way to address it is with transparency.
There is no easy question or answer to google to find out how to price items online.
So factors I considered were:
Affordability for customers.
I never want someone to miss out on a helpful resource due to cost, so I am trying to keep prices at only a few dollars depending on the amount of pages and features.
The time it takes to make the product.
While a page may look simplistic, it does take time to design the template, create listing images, and writing descriptions so searchers can find products they are looking for.
I work full time at a day job so I try my best with time management to create content on evenings and weekends. (I will admit there’s been nights I’ve fallen asleep with my laptop sitting in front of me! LOL Dedication to goals I guess.)
Lastly, Fees
This is where the biggest challenge comes in to play.
As much as I would love to provide printables and online content for free, there are costs involved.
I won’t get into specifics because the numbers change, but there are fees for listing products and a percentage of each sale goes to Etsy.
My blog website, program expenses, and the Esty charges can quickly add up.
The income I receive from Etsy sales, Google Ads on my website, and clicks to Affiliate links all goes back in to my RLS Photogenic business to create and offer you more content!
Also! If you sign up for my weekly email letter, you will receive exclusive discounts and previews of new products and other resources!
Thank you for your support!
If you enjoy the free resources from RLS Photogenic, please consider providing a financial contribution.
Any amount helps towards website fees, platform service charges, journaling materials, Etsy listing costs, and time spent writing, filming, editing, etc.
Thank you for your consideration, – Rebekka

That’s a great idea! Best of luck! Thanks for reading,
This is so helpful! I recently started a shop of my own so this is timely for me!
That’s great to hear! Best of luck with your shop!
I just started my own Etsy Shop as well. I’m mostly doing family-themed printables, but I’m also adding in Tiny Art and Crochet as I make things. It’s been such an interesting process. So far I’ve only gotten one sale, but I have heard it takes a while. Best of luck! Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Thanks for sharing! I think SEO / Keywords are very helpful for your listings! I have my shop public to figure it all and haven’t shared it with anyone yet. But I’ve already had 2 sales from Etsy shoppers finding my items through search! I was honestly shocked! Also youtube videos with Etsy tips are great. Best of Luck with your shop! Thanks for reading!
