For a while now I have wanted to post more content on my Youtube channel.
But I was never quite sure what to share.
Especially because I really rather not show myself online.
It may seem trying to create an online business and wanting to hide myself are counter intuitive.
(Throughout this article may be affiliate links and ads. There is no extra cost to the buyer, thank you for supporting my blog!*)
But I just don’t see why it’s necessary to constantly be the subject in front of the camera.
My content is more so about the topics of genealogy and journaling.
I do sprinkle some personal details here and there in to my writing but that’s not the main focus.
The internet can be a scary place and at this point I just don’t feel comfortable putting my image out there all the time.
Journaling Videos
I haven’t quite figured out how to do videos based around genealogy (family tree research) but the journaling has come along a lot more easily.
It ties in perfectly with my journal articles and is also a creative outlet.
I love paper craft projects and enjoy the process of creating art. Drawing and painting is really not my specialty.
So far (October 2023) my videos are simply creating junk journal pages in a notebook with my supplies spread around the table.
It is no where near aesthetically pleasing as a lot of other ‘journal with me’ videos out there but I’m working on it.
We all start somewhere right?
I also don’t have the space for a craft room or designated area, so my videos are usually filmed on my dining room table, or coffee table in my living room.
So it’s a process to set things up and put them away again every time I film.
But creating and sharing the journal pages and videos are totally worth the hassle.

Lofi Music
Someday once I figure it all out I would like to add personal voice overs to the videos but I’m not quiet there yet.
I’m not sure what I would even say but I’m thinking about a plan.
So for now I include lofi music.
A term that about 5 years ago I didn’t even know what that was.
But I find it calming and perfect for simply relaxing, crafting, working, or doing activities around my home.
Occasionally I will change the music up a bit for a specific season, holiday, or theme but it’s usually always without lyrics.
Paper Craft Supplies
Especially after moving apartments twice in the past few years, my craft supply inventory is quite low.
I really only have about a box and a half of supplies that I pull from for making journal videos.
As of right now I want to focus on using what I have but I do hope to grow my collection over time.
I mostly use items from various journaling kits, cardstock, washi tape, stickers from Recollections, and print outs from my Etsy shop.
