The holiday season is quickly approaching for 2024!
As I write this blog article it is the end of October but the exciting time ahead is already on my mind.
If I’m being completely honest I may have even watched 2 Christmas movies.
Nothing classic but you know the cheesy Hallmark type ones.
I’ve come to find as the years go on people seem to want to kick off the holidays earlier and earlier.
I tend to be one of those people but I try my best to wait until November 1st. (holiday printables below!)
The sad part is though, it just goes to show how many of us simply need a bit of extra joy in our lives.
The world has become a difficult place at times, and while I don’t want to get in to all that, it is important to note it’s part of the situation.
So anyway, getting on with things.
Holiday Events
As you schedule events with your family and friends, I encourage you to take the time to genuinely spend with your loved ones.
Recently I saw a post with multiple people saying time goes by faster.
While I understand their point, I think it’s simply because there is more to distract us. Especially with technology.
Take a moment to think about it. When was the last time you just sat peacefully and did nothing. I’m talking absolutely nothing.
No phone, no music, no tv, no distractions.
Just took in the moment and scenery around you.
My guess is it’s probably been a while.
With that in mind, please try to be present with your family this year (no pun intended haha)
Special Moments with Family
Converse with your relatives, play a board game with friends, color with the little kiddos, take your dog for a longer walk than normal.
To tie back to my blog’s overall theme, maybe even ask some questions to learn more about your ancestors and family history (a helpful printable for this linked below!)
Take out old family photo albums or watch some home movies.
I may be aging myself a bit here but years ago my family did the occasional slideshow nights.
And I don’t mean a PowerPoint presentation, haha, I mean like good old fashion 35 mm slides displayed on to a projector with lights.
Those were some of my favorite memories! You can create that with your family too, maybe just in a more modern way!
Side note, for a device to digitize slides, click here – *Epson Scanner – I used one of these and loved it!
I guess I will wrap this up for now (ha another holiday pun, again unintentional!) but I truly hope you have a wonderful holiday season ahead.
Stay tuned for more holiday content in the months to come!
