When you think of your family, do you think of your pets? The month of April celebrates many versions of pet and animal related holidays! The 10th is National Hug Your Dog Day and National Farm Animals Day, the 11th is National Pet Day, and the 24th is Pet Parents Day. Animals may not be listed on the Ancestry tree in the traditional sense but they are a part of the family.

Journal Prompt Questions:
- How many pets do you currently have, or previously owned?
- What types of pets? (Dog, Cat, Fish, Bird)
- What are your pets’ names?
- Did you have a particular pet you were closest with?
- How did you get your pets? Are there any interesting, different, adoption stories?
- Was there ever a pet you wanted but never had?
- Have you gifted an animal to a loved one?
- What lessons have you learned by caring for a pet?
- Do you include animals in family pictures?
- Is there a special way you memorialize your animals? (pet cemetery, cremation items, tattoos, paintings, etc.)
Including pictures or written notes about animals in photo albums or scrapbooks can both preserve those memories and identify a certain time frame of our lives. Pets are involved in our everyday life and activities.
