Wedding Cards Scrapbook

One time when sorting through my grandparent’s photo albums I came across a scrapbook of cards from their engagement, bridal shower, and wedding.

I enjoyed turning each page and opening the folded cards to see the personalized notes inside.

Each message written with love, joy, and excitement for the special occasion.

Some names I recognized of ancestors that have since passed, and others of family friends.

And here I was sitting in the quiet of my home reading it all, 55 years later!

So I knew from that moment, that I wanted to be sure to save cards and mementos from my future wedding day.

Okay, so reminiscing aside, how can you save items from a wedding? Many ways!

How do you Preserve Wedding Memories?

First I suggest starting from the very beginning when you get engaged.

Set aside any pictures you take, cards received, packaging from gifts, and in this technology driven age- maybe even quotes from text messages or social media comments.

One fun gift we received from a friend was a puzzle designed with our engagement announcement picture. So we can enjoy it as both an image and activity. (Shutterfly is great for personalized gifts!)

Keep any cards in a special place, this way you can put them all together after the wedding is over.

Any gift wrap can be used for creating a scrapbook or junk journal.

Planning Phase Papers

As you plan out the celebration details it is always helpful to have a notebook on hand.

I recommend these travelers notebooks!

They were great to keep at home, carry in my bag, and give to family members to write down any notes, questions, or ideas.

Travelers Notebook

Another nice perk is you can have multiple notebooks tied together in the faux leather binding when everything is complete.

Wedding Binder

Another helpful organizer I received is this wedding binder.

It was perfect for saving items while planning, tracking addresses, RSVP cards, reminders, appointments, and ideas. I especially loved the clear pocket folders!

Wedding Book Organizer

The binder can store so much stuff over the course months/years of planning.

Everything from contracts to cards, scrapbook stickers, appointment cards, gift tags, and more!

It really helped me save sweet moments too, like items from my bridal shower, extra pearls from my dress, and notes from loved ones.

Without this book I probably would have had a bunch of random folders and piles of paper in my desk. (just being honest lol)

Helpful Organization

Instead everything was kept neatly all together where both my fiancé and I could easily access it.

I even went back through it the week following the wedding to add in notes, information, gifts received, and a thank you card list.

But more importantly, connecting in to this article theme, it was a great place to save memories of all the details.

It may just appear to be difference versions of paper and card stock but it tells the story of the wedding process from beginning to end.

And captures the excitement and celebrations at this phase of life!

Preserve Memories with Wedding Keepsakes

Okay so I’ve glossed over a couple of items but here is a list of ideas for keepsakes to save for a wedding mementos box, journal, art, or anything you prefer.

    Flowers

I know there are various ways to save your flowers and/or bouquet, pinterest has tons of ideas I’m sure.

It does depend on what type of flowers you had for how you can continue to enjoy them.

I had succulents as my centerpieces so guests could bring them home as house plants, and they won’t just wilt like flowers in a vase.

For my bouquet what I personally did was took the pieces apart such as the fern leaves and set them aside to be flattened. Once that process is complete, I will put them in a white picture frame to hang on the wall.

    Wedding Dress Decoration

If you have extra fabric that was removed from your dress during alterations, or embellishments such as buttons, pearls, and beads, you can use these pieces to make a one of a kind personalized keepsake.

For example, I would like to have a wedding teddy bear made out of fabric from my gown.

You could also make a pillow or put materials in a shadow box or picture frame to display in your home.

Depending on how you preserve your dress you can display it in a display box in a safe place in your home. (Just ask your seamstress or the store you purchased your dress from for advice!)

    Photographs

I think this goes without saying but, make the most of your wedding pictures!

You probably put a lot of thought in to selecting your photographer and types of photos you wanted taken.

You will most likely receive digital copies but, be sure to print some too!

Display your pictures in a wedding photo album, hang some on the wall in frames, make custom items or gifts such as canvases, blankets, puzzles, decor pieces (Shutterfly is great for this!)

If digital is more your route, try a rotating frame! This one also links to Alexa devices!

    Wedding Cardstock

For a unique and personalized idea, pick out a nice picture frame and display your wedding invitation!

Or save a card from a loved one, maybe it has a marriage quote or piece of advice for newlyweds, and put that up as wall art too!

    Stickers for Scrapbooking!

I just happened to see these wedding stickers from the same company as the wedding binder and wanted to share. These are great for scrapbooking or journaling!

    Engagement Wedding Stickers

Really anything that you can tuck in to a notebook, decorative frame, or keepsake box is perfect.

    Just get creative!

For example, my Aunt gave out soap bars at my bridal shower. Each bar had a little tag with a cute phrase, “From Rebekka’s shower to yours” with the date of our wedding. Naturally I saved that to scrapbook!
